Support System for conventions held in Beppu

Various types of conventions may be entitled to receive a subsidy if the conventions are on a Kyushu-wide scale or larger ones using B-Con Plaza as a main venue and involving 100 or more visitors staying overnight in the city of Beppu during the convention period. In the past, eligible conventions received a maximum of one million yen as a subsidy, which will be significantly increased in and after fiscal 2013 and granted to each convention according to the scale of the convention and subject to screening.

Scale of convention	Subsidy	Payment conditions
(1) International convention	Up to 3 million yen (venue usage fees in full)	Involving participants from at least two countries staying overnight. Covering B-Con Plaza usage fees (excluding air-conditioner, annexed structure, and equipment usage charges)
(2) Convention on a Kyushu-wide scale or larger	Up to 2 million yen (2/3 of venue usage fees)	•Involving at least 500 participants staying overnight in the city of Beppu. Covering a part of B-Con Plaza usage fees (excluding air-conditioner, annexed structure, and equipment usage charges)
(3) Convention other than the above	Up to 0.5 million yen	Granting 0.5 million yen or 1,000 yen x number of participants staying overnight in the city of Beppu, whichever is lower.

Any of the following conventions are excluded:

The Japanese government or a local public corporation organizes the convention.
The Japanese government or a local public corporation subsidizes the convention.
The main venues of the convention (at least 2/3 of the venues of the convention) are other than B-Con Plaza.
The convention is for profit making.
The convention involves religious or political activities.
